​​Hedera takes its name from the botanical genus of ivy—a plant that climbs not through force, but through persistence, attachment, and quiet resilience. Set to selections from Part I of Stravinsky’s Le sacre du printemps / The Rite of Spring, the work traces a progression from awakening to pulse, from pulse to pursuit, and from pursuit to entanglement.

 

An expanding ensemble of female dancers moves as tendrils of one organism: emerging, separating, crossing, recoiling, and returning into shared rhythm. What begins as a quiet stirring gradually takes root in the body. The ground becomes audible through repeated steps; skirts trace the air like living vines; lines stretch, knot, and reform under pressure. As the music gathers force, softness is no longer fragile—it becomes insistence, resistance, and survival.

 

Conceived as a work that can grow layer by layer, Hedera unfolds between ritual and growth. It reveals a feminine energy that is neither ornamental nor passive: it clings, pulls, bends, and persists. It does not bloom; it spreads.
